Positioning

AI is only as good as the data estate under it

Most organizations we meet already own the licenses: Power BI, a Fabric capacity, Copilot seats. What is missing is a governed data foundation, a use case with a number attached, and a team that can take it into production.

That is the work we do, end to end, on the Microsoft stack.

What we deliver

Four things we build on the Microsoft stack

Each can be bought on its own. Together they take you from scattered data to agents your teams use every day.

A unified data estate on Microsoft Fabric

One governed platform for ingestion, engineering, warehousing and real-time data, in place of a patchwork of tools.

What we do

  • Fabric architecture, capacity sizing and OneLake design
  • Lakehouse and warehouse builds on a medallion (bronze, silver, gold) model
  • Pipelines with Fabric Data Factory, and mirroring from SQL Server, Azure SQL and other operational databases
  • Migration from Azure Synapse, SQL Server and legacy data warehouses

What you get

  • One source of truth across ERP, CRM and operational systems
  • Data that is ready for Power BI, Copilot and AI agents without another copy
  • A platform cost you can forecast, on a single capacity

Analytics people use: Power BI and Copilot

Reporting that starts with the decisions your leaders make, then works back to the data.

What we do

  • KPI and metrics workshops with business leaders before any dashboard is built
  • Enterprise semantic models with Direct Lake on OneLake
  • Executive, finance and operational dashboards in Power BI
  • Copilot in Power BI, so people can ask questions in plain language
  • Self-service BI with guardrails: certified datasets, workspace standards and row-level security
  • Consolidation of legacy reports from SQL Server Reporting Services, Excel and other BI tools

What you get

  • One set of numbers that leadership trusts
  • Answers without waiting on the BI team
  • Fewer reports, and more of them used

AI apps and agents on Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio

Agents and assistants grounded in your own data, built where your people already work.

What we do

  • Use-case discovery, feasibility and business case before any build
  • Assistants grounded in your documents and data, using Foundry IQ and Azure AI Search for retrieval
  • Agents built in Copilot Studio and Foundry Agent Service, published to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, Dynamics 365 and your own applications
  • Model selection across Azure OpenAI and other Foundry Models, matched to cost, latency and accuracy needs
  • Predictive models with Azure Machine Learning, with MLOps for the full model lifecycle
  • Intelligent document processing for invoices, contracts and forms
  • Evaluation, tracing and guardrails before go-live, and monitoring after

What you get

  • Agents that take work off your teams, with a measured baseline
  • Answers that cite their source documents
  • AI that runs inside your Azure tenant and respects your existing permissions

Governance, security and responsible AI

The controls that let you put real data in front of AI without losing sleep.

What we do

  • Microsoft Purview: sensitivity labels, data loss prevention and audit
  • OneLake catalog for discovery and lineage, with domains aligned to your business
  • Access control with Microsoft Entra ID, including row- and column-level security
  • Private networking, Key Vault and data-residency design
  • PII masking and controls for regulated data
  • Copilot readiness checks: a permissions and oversharing review before rollout
  • Responsible AI review of every agent: grounding, content filters and human oversight

What you get

  • A data estate your compliance team has signed off
  • Clear ownership and lineage for every dataset
  • AI rollouts that do not expose data people should not see

Fabric migration spotlight

On Synapse or SQL Server? Plan the move to Fabric.

Azure Synapse is still supported, but Microsoft is putting its new analytics capability into Fabric. Features such as OneLake and Direct Lake are available only there. If you run Synapse, SQL Server or an older warehouse, the useful question is when to move and in what order.

We migrate in phases with a parallel run, not a single cutover.

Assess.

Inventory pipelines, Spark workloads, SQL pools and reports, and flag what will not move cleanly.

Plan.

Target architecture, capacity sizing, cost model and a phased roadmap.

Migrate.

Move workloads in waves, run old and new side by side, and validate row counts and report outputs.

Cut over.

Switch consumers to Fabric, decommission the old estate, and hand over runbooks to your team.

Start small

Start with a fixed scope

Defined ways to begin, each with a defined duration and a defined output.

6 weeks

Data & AI Proof of Concept

A working Fabric or Azure OpenAI prototype built on your own data, against one real use case, with a go or no-go recommendation.

4 weeks

Copilot Adoption Sprint

A rollout of Microsoft 365, GitHub or Dynamics 365 Copilot with governance in place and an effectiveness baseline measured with our Copilot Effectiveness Score.

Some engagements may qualify for Microsoft partner funding. We check eligibility with you during scoping.

Why Netsmartz

Why teams pick Netsmartz for Microsoft Data & AI

Audited by Microsoft, not self-declared

The Analytics on Microsoft Azure specialization is awarded only after an independent audit of our people, process and delivery.

One partner from ERP to data to agents

Alongside Data & AI we hold Microsoft designations for Business Applications, Infrastructure and Digital & App Innovation, with a 200+ Dynamics 365 team. Your ERP data, your data platform and your agents are designed together.

We use what we sell

We rolled Copilot out across our own teams and built the Copilot Effectiveness Score, a five-dimension measure of whether it is changing how people work. We bring the same method to client rollouts.

Skills that stay with you

Every engagement ends with handover and training. Netsmartz Academy runs structured Microsoft data and AI certification programs for client teams.

Senior-led, globally delivered

Architect-led teams, client-facing staff in North America, the UAE and Australia, and delivery from India.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should we move from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric now?

If you are starting something new, build it on Fabric. If you have a stable Synapse estate, there is no deadline, but new Microsoft capability is landing in Fabric, so it is worth having a plan. A migration assessment tells you which workloads move easily and which need rework.

Do we have to fix all our data before we start with AI?

No, we scope the data work to the first use case, prove value there, and widen the foundation as more use cases follow.

How quickly will we see something working?

Our Data & AI Proof of Concept delivers a working prototype on your own data in six weeks.

Can you work with Dynamics 365, SQL Server and non-Microsoft sources?

Yes, Fabric connects to or mirrors a wide range of sources, including SQL Server, Dynamics 365, Snowflake and Oracle, and we have in-house Dynamics 365 and SQL Server teams.

Is Microsoft funding available for these projects?

Sometimes. Microsoft decides eligibility based on the customer and the workload. We check during scoping and handle the nomination where a project qualifies.

Do you only work on Microsoft?

No, this page covers our Microsoft practice. For AWS, open-source models and other platforms, see our AI practice.
