Integration of Informatica with Salesforce for a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions

Netsmartz integrated Informatica with Salesforce for this global provider of information and communication technology solutions, resulting in automated and accurate data flow between their legacy systems and Salesforce instance.

THE CLIENT

Our client provides a wide range of innovative global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions including cloud, network and security services.Their solution help customers to work quickly, strengthen their competitiveness, enter new markets and develop new businesses.

CHALLENGES

Netsmartz was engaged by the client to help automate front-office processes, reduce quote-to-cash lead times, and provide real-time visibility into the company’s revenue cycle. To achieve these objectives, they wanted Netsmartz to reduce the amount of manual and duplicate entry, eliminate swivel-chair processes and integrate existing systems. They also wanted to focus first on the pricing, quotation, and order entry portions of the company’s various product lines.

The company was generating two reports – Accrued and Incremental for the Accounting teams on a monthly basis. These reports were pulled out of the instance of Salesforce. The generation of these reports used to require a lot of manual work and the logic for data transformation was erroneous and old. Hence changes were required for the correct generation of these reports with the least amount of manual intervention as possible.

APPROACH & SOLUTION

The solution was provided by integrating Informatica with Salesforce, which acted as the data source for Salesforce instance. Business logic was created, which was used for transformation of data coming from external tools and automating the process of report generation.

  • ETL were implemented in Informatica to validate and transform the data in the required format.
  • Complex apex logic was written in Salesforce to handle revenue calculation.
  • The old order entry process was revamped and streamlined.
  • Creation of dashboards and scheduled generation of various reports to be used by Sales and Accounting teams.
  • Implemented extensive exception handling which had to be manually addressed earlier.

Followed Microsoft’s Sure Step methodology during implementation.
